What Is It?
Why We Do It
Planning can mean different things to different people. When discussing Community Planning, these words mean reviewing, analyzing, and recommending actions for the best possible use of resources for the built and natural environment. A plan integrates many topic areas into one cohesive document with the goal of creating efficiencies and improvements in the community.
What is Genesee: Our County, Our Future?
Genesee: Our County, Our Future is a vision for the County that incorporates an analysis of necessary components when planning for a community’s future needs – land use, transportation, housing, environment, and infrastructure.
In the past, GCMPC has created many planning documents specific to certain topics including: Community Development and Housing, Transportation, Solid Waste and Recycling, as well as land use. Genesee: Our County, Our Future is one document that integrates those topics into one very compact and useful plan, while still meeting all requirements of FHWA and HUD. Most important, the plan provides guidance to our local communities to assist with their decision-making processes. Our County, Our Future.
“To provide a framework and encourage development that enhances the quality of life in Genesee County through government and community partnerships”
